IBM was trying to convince its mainframe customers (considered an almost dead market at the time) that they could seamlessly migrate to the AS/400 -- HA! Performance was so abysmal on the models of the day that almost nobody purchased it. Besides, OLTP in real time is the /400's strength, and CICS practically defeats the purpose of moving to the box in the first place. Until today's posting from Srinivas, I didn't realize that CICS was even still offered and it's the first time I've heard of anyone even using it. Mainframes have risen from the dead, and I thought CICS/400 to be moot. Srinivas would probably get better response by posting his (her?) query to MIDRANGE-L.
