or you might have to use another variable to contain the entire selection
string, I can't remember off the top of my head, something like:
CHGVAR &QRYSELECT ('WNPDTP1E *EQ "' *CAT &FRMDTE *CAT '"')
OPNQRYF FILE(pestpr) QRYSLT(&QRYSELECT)
ie. substitute the content of the variable into the selection sting. Be
careful of the double and single quotes there, use your cursor to determine
which is which in this message. I think your way was comparing the date to
the alpha value of "&FRMDTE" and not the date content of the variable itself
