Hans: Music IS mathematics, an octave, a fifth, etc, are just ratios.
I would recommend both "e: The Story of a Number" by Eli Maor and
"Godel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid" by Douglas Hofstadter for
further exploring these relationships.
