Hi All,

Here's one for the TCP gurus. We ping an IP address ie. "ping
'109.123.123.1'" and get an immediate response.

When we ping the host name ie "Ping Madeupname" it can take anywhere up to
30 secs to resolve to the IP address and do the actual ping. I can see
nothing obvious in the network status enquiry or in QSYSWRK.

The problem is that we run EDI interfaces to various companies and these are
all referenced by the host name. It has started to slow down our
transmissions horribly. (FTP and TELNET have the same problem).

We've been running for years now without a problem.

Any ideas?

Alistair
