Right, It's not what I want. There's a lot of ways to fudge it.
I want the RPGIV language to actively participate in the IFS
world directly. Every new product (Application) that is comming
to the AS/400 will be in the IFS. RPGIV needs to address that
fact.
In VA/RPG we have DDE direct link to active spread sheets.
I would like some "Native" ability to update a Stream File
in the IFS. I can personally get along with out having
yet another native DB2/400 chain opcode
What I would like is "New" built-in functions like
%GETCELL and %SETCELL etc.
What "New" and exotic functions would you all like??

It is easy, and it already exists. Sort Of. Have Excell access the
data via ODBC
in a Database in the QSYS file system! Then you can modify the
columns as we
always have. I know it's not realy the way you want to do it, but
just a thought.
