Look at what you need now and what you will need in the future. If you are getting into RPG IV, there is no real difference for supporting the CMS of that than RPG III. It is when you get into ILE stuff that the need for a good CMS comes into play. That was probobly the main reason why we sought out a 3rd party CMS to begin with. We already had an inhouse CMS written for handling the simple program concept. But when we started investigating ILE, we discovered that there was a lot of tracking involved and out current inhouse CMS would not handle it. We also figured out that it would be 'cheaper' to go 3rd party instead of trying to fix our inhouse solution. I guess to make a long story short, make sure that the software can handle your stuff today and also has the features to hadle what ever you are going to throw at it in the future. We use Softlanding's Turnover and think it is great. They are always looking for ways to improve it. They are usually really good about getting features into the software that you need that may not be there yet. Support is great. They are very timely in solving problems that you may have. Support for the IFS. Handles all the ins and outs of ILE(modules, service programs, and what not...). Very tailorable to YOUR environment and the way you do things. Just an all around good product with a lot of features. www.softlanding.com -- ------------------------------------------------------ Scott P.
