You seem to have confused the "keyboard shift value" in your display file
DDS with the "data type" from a PF or LF DDS.

This, for example, won't work:

>        A            S@DSTP         8S 0O 18 39OVRDTA                      
>        A                                      EDTCDE(Y)

The "keyboard shift" of "S" does not allow an edit code.   Try something
like:

>        A            S@DSTP         8Y 0O 18 39OVRDTA                      
>        A                                      EDTCDE(Y)


The keyboard shift field is described in the DDS reference manual.

This link explains that the data type is different from the keyboard
shift:

This link explains that EDTCDE keyword needs to be used with a keyboard
shift of "blank" or "Y":
