Sounds like some S36 code I used to maintain..... OK, reality check. You use a field in your record to show deleted records? If so, perhaps your access path (logical) is omitting records with delete flags. Program tries to access this record again, but can't chain to it because the access path can't see it. If it IS a record locking issue, are you by chance locking the record in a prior program? Use DSPRCDLCK lib/file to see a list of all jobs that have record locks on that file. hth eric.delong@pmsi-services.com ______________________________ Reply Separator _________________________________ Subject: Record locking Author: <RPG400-L@midrange.com> at INET_WACO Date: 5/30/00 3:52 PM I have a program that when a user deletes a record it just marks the record for lete, that way all the data is all still there if we need to get it back. But ifa user decides they did not want to delete the record and recreates it before th exit that portion of the app they cant because the record is still locked. I have tried using the unlck command and I have tried closing the file and opening it ack up again but nothing seems to work. the lock gets hung up on a chain comma . Am I just doing this wrong or what, any suggestions would be greatly app ciated.
