This is a contradiction. You do not "delete and then re-create". You update a record with a D then try to write a duplicate record and then fail. I suspect logging off may run some sort off purge program that removes all records with a D, so when you log back on you are free to rewrite the record? _______________________ Booth Martin booth@martinvt.com http://www.MartinVT.com _______________________ "Quazy" <quazy@SoftHome.net> Sent by: owner-rpg400-l@midrange.com 05/31/2000 09:25 AM Please respond to RPG400-L To: <RPG400-L@midrange.com> cc: Subject: Re: Record locking The problem is when I delete the record and then recreate the record without exiting the program. +--- | This is the RPG/400 Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to RPG400-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to RPG400-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to RPG400-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
