I did the same sort of thing but added what I thought was a nice touch.
The file had 4 fields that a user might want to choose for sorting order
so I did just as you did and made logicals over the physical file based on
those fields. But then in the DDS I made each column's heading an Input
field (protected) with DFTVAL('the text for the column heading') and upon
ENTER the DDS returns the field name of the cursor's location to the
program.
That way the user can arrow to a column heading or mouse-click the column
heading and the program gets the Field Name and presents the subfile
logical for that column.

Subject: Re: Sort records in subfile
I just finished a program that has a command key to view the subfile by
either
in Product Number or Lot Number sequence. If displaying the screen sorted
by Lot
Number the function key would read (F8=Prod), if the user presses the F8
key I
just simply read the file by another logical and load a *new subfile* (in
product number sequence) with the product number as the first field
displaying
on the screen. And visa-versa, when the user is displaying by Product
Number,
there is another F8 Key to view the listing sorted by Lot Number.

Hi all :-)
How are you doing today ?
I have a question - is any possibility to sort records in the subfile ? I
am
trying to give to user chance, when listing in a subfile, to see the
records
sorted ...
any suggestions ?
Thank you and wish a nice day :-)
