Struggling with the 'right' way to get my AS/400 folks cross trained to work
on our apps that reside on other platforms.

Specifically, we have a remote (disconnected) VB app, and web development
using the AS/400 as the database server.

One big problem is that these are very complex applications, using
collections, classes etc. The new VB hires we make have to be pretty high
level to step in and be productive.

The business knowledge our AS/400 folks have should (in theory) offset the
language struggles.

How have others attacked this issue? I do not see how a 5 day class (or
even a college course) could give somebody both the simple language/syntax
issues and the high level - real life concepts.

Any success stories out there?

Thanks, JN
