Kimo, to take advantage of many of the features of RPG IV (which is misnamed ILE RPG), you do NOT have to be concerned about ILE. The very first book that you should read is SG24-5402, "Who Knew You Could Do That with RPG IV?". This book has been widely embraced by RPG programmers. Also, if you want to jumpstart the exercise, you should consider attending one of the following excellent IBM classes: S6126 Americas (OE85 Worldwide) - Moving from RPG/400 to RPG IV - a quick bring you up to date 3 day class with exercises S6148 Americas (OL48 Worldwide) - Tools for Modernizing RPG Skills - a little more current than S6126 - 4 days including a little more ILE exposure plus a look at GUI tools - CGI and VARPG. If I can help by answering any questions, you may post them in this forum or contact me directly.
