Royal PITA, isn't it? Here's what I did.
1) I converted the copybook to RPGLE.
2) Then I went into the RPT source and commented out all
the /COPY lines. I also changed the source type to RPG.
3) I converted the program in question to RPGLE.
4) Went back into the program and uncommented the /COPY
lines and determined if there were any other problems.
5) Compile and test.
If the copybooks have a mixture of specs (F&I, or C&O, for example), you
have to split up the copybook. At least I did on V3R2 because there was
(is) no conditional /COPY. I also did not use the IBM command to
convert the RPG III source, I used a CVTRPGLE utility from Butcher
Enterprises. It did much more than the IBM command. I still have a few
RPGIII programs around, mostly because they haven't needed touched in 5+
years.
