What do you mean by "them"? The fields within the data structure? Or the records from which the "one field" came from? Assuming the former, then put the values into an array and use SORTA. Assuming the latter, you could a) Use SQL SELECT ... ORDER BY and use SUBSTR(fld pos len); b) Create a logical file with a new field created by substring; c) Use FMTDTA to physically sort fileA into fileB.
