Two suggestions to check:

Is you subfile window overlaying another window such as a footer record that 
uses the line immediately following the last subfile
record.

Is you last record of the subfile the next to last line of the window and the 
window definition specify Yes for Message line.  The
last line of the window will be used as the message line and hide anything else 
on that line including *more.
