Hi Joep, Optimistic, perhaps. However, for those that want to know how file overrides really work, at least the information will be there. Regarding your comments about complexity and "all the problems people are reporting in mailing lists and news group"... That's why I put the information together. It became painfully obvious that this was a topic that just wasn't understood. In fact, though I know some very, very good programmers, I cannot think of a single one that I would bet fully understands how overrides work! Regarding the simplicity in the pre-ILE world - to be perfectly honest, I don't even think that most understand fully how file overrides work in OPM only. I attribute the lack of understanding to the fact that for the most part, folks have used file overrides in a very simple way rather than exercise their limits. This, in my opinion, has lulled many into a false notion as to how they work. The real difference is that ILE illuminates the need to understand file overrides. I think there is more mystery than complexity involved with overrides. The bottom line is there is a handful of rules to remember. Remember those rules and you can apply them to ALL scenarios. Though there are a couple of rules induced by ILE, the set of rules isn't really any more complicated than OPM-only. There's just a little bit more to memorize. It's a manageable amount, though! Anyhow, I'd appreciate your feedback as to whether the article makes overrides any clearer if and when you get the opportunity to read it.
