I would have used the
DACTIVE C CONST('A')
instead to keep it a constant.
1) It documents that this is unable to be changed. Documents it as a
flag.
2) Prevents some silly bugger from accidentally changing the value in
line.
3) And so on. Maybe you just didn't know about Constants.
Of course
D Active C 'A'
or
D Active C Const('A')
may be more readable.
