I may do this:
a) Have a single CL with an OVRDBF command like
OVRDBF FILE(&FILE) TOFILE(&LIBRARY/&FILE)
RCDFMTLCK((&RECORD *SHRUPD)) SHARE(*YES).
b) Define an RPG program in that CL to do my updates on the file.
Now, if I know the file name, library name and record format name in advance, I
can call this CL and send this parameters. I can do this call all the times I
want after that.
Just an idea.
