Juan,

if starting in position 983, there are only 1018 positions left in your
2000 byte string. but you've asked for 1082. there is your error.

if you're looking for the string from 983 to the end of the string, try
this:

C                   Eval      Line = %SubSt(data:S: ( %size(data) -S )-1 )

hth,

rick

-----original message--------
Hello all,
I am doing a %subst function, but i get an error, need enlightenment.

C                   Eval      Line = %SubSt(data:S:E)

Length or start position is out of range for the string operation (C G D
F).

S = 0983. and  E = 1082.

Is this message referring to E?
What is the largest value i can have?

I need to Subst a field of 2000 char into fields of 100, any other
suggestions?/

TIA.
