Where?  on the D spec?  Sunil did specify P for the array.  but the table
file (9P 0) was internally described, so how do you specify that the table
file has packed data in it?

Since the input file was 9P 0, the actual record length of the file would
be 5.  Sunil had his at set at 10 in the program.  When I tried it with
reclen of 5, it wouldn't compile, because the array element length was too
big for the table file to fill (?).

To specify that the table uses packed data, specify P for Packed instead of
S for Signed.
