There are some online things available from IBM. I actually copied these
from an email sent to the list in April.
http://www-3.ibm.com/services/learning/us/
Search on classes as follows depending on what version of RPG you need to
learn (ie RPGIII, RPGIV, RPGLE)
S6043 - RPGIII Syntax
S6109 and S6122 - RPGIV fixed format
S6197/98/99 - RPGIV Free Format
The searches will return various courses, some online and free, others that
are media that is mailed to you and cost money, etc.
http://www-3.ibm.com/services/learning/us/elearning/
has quite a selection of online courses, many are free but just have to
search for the right things
RPG is still taught in many Junior and Technical colleges and perhaps a
college level text book would also be a good way to start. That is how I
first began to learn RPG five years ago, I purchased a text book (about $50
US) so it would be explained simply and step by step for me to get the
basics then everything else I learned just by looking it up online, in
manuals, the midrange.com archives or by the gracious help of these people
here on the list whenever I get really stumped.
Good Luck
