Well, if the program is in debug mode, I want to send certain messages into the job log. If a program can determine if it's being debugged, then it could behave differently under the debugger than it would in production. This means that bugs could be introduced that are impossible to find when using the debugger. That really seems like a bad idea. There must be some kind of problem that you're trying to solve?
