Perhaps instead of inline code using system() you can wrapper that into your
own CLRPFM procedure.  I would put all such OS-specific procedures in their
own service program.  When the day comes that we run another OS, you won't
be hunting down all the OS-specific references in your code.  If that day
never comes, but IBM introduces a new, hyper-fast way to clear a file, you
can always change that one procedure and all of your programs will now be
upgraded to hyper-clear.

All programs requiring CLRPFM will now have eval rc=clrpfm('xxxtrans':
'translib')
