If you are on a recent enough release, you can code it as follows: 0395.00 ************************************************ 0396.00 * ....... /IF DEFINED(XXX) 0397.00 C *IN44 WHENEQ *ON 0398.00 C Z-ADD D2RRN SFLRCD 0399.00 C MOVEL(P) 'D3SC' #SDFMT #SDFMT ....... /ENDIF In other words, the statements between the /IF and /ENDIF are compiled only if name XXX is defined. This way, you don't have to worry about star'ing out intervening statements, and you don't have to worry about comments within that block. Cheers! Hans
