You mean like
StupidDbNbrField=%dec(%char(MyDate:*iso0));
Some of this might require V5R2.

Subject: RE: Using RPG /Free how do I get an ISO variable
into a non-date 8,0 variable in *USA format
I asked the same question a month ago and yes, MOVE is the only reasonable
option from what I've learned.

Subject: Using RPG /Free how do I get an ISO variable into a non-date
8,0 variable in *USA format
I'm trying to write as much of my program within /Free but I hit a wall on
something I thought I could do using the bif %date.
All I want to do is put an ISO date field and store it in *USA format in
an
8,0 variable.
I thought it would be as simple as;
v_Numeric8 = %date(v_Iso: *USA);
(Okay, I noticed after a compile failure and checking the manual that this
bif is for converting from a character/numeric to a date field)
Am I forced to do the /endfree and then
*USA move v_Iso v_Numeric8
