Thank you to everyone who replied! This list really is great! IMHO . . . Best suggestion - use CLEAR *ALL (I think I'll start using that every time -- that's a great tip! :-) Close runner-up - use an external data structure and clear that. Scott (and others), you were absolutely right -- there was another data structure defined over that file (oops! :-(), and when I gave that a name and cleared it it worked perfectly. I guess I prefere CLEAR *ALL because of its simplicity, but I've learned something new about data structures today, which is good. :-) Unfortunately, clearing the display file format wouldn't work because I'd have to cherry-pick the fields to clear (either that or re-fill a list of fields that are filled during program initialization).
