RE: Visual Age RPG and .NET environment

What is the .NET architecture?   That is an unclear vision to me.   

I'd understood .NET was just a brand name with no other significance than
being trendy, fashionable, and the beginning salvo to steal the word "net"
from the language as was done with "Word", "Explorer"  and "Windows"

Studio.net is Microsoft's Eclipse type product. Very
much like Ms Studio but works within the .net
architecture.
