%EDITC(numeric:'X') is no good since the result doesn't include the decimal point. You'd have to insert the decimal point back into the string. The only way to get what Andrew wants is with an edit word, but then, Andrew wants to avoid editing.

Cheers! Hans

Subject: %char in /free

I have a quick question and I am probably overlooking the obvious, but

here

goes.(BTW, I did search the archives and didn't find anything helpful) I
am trying to move a 9,4 numeric to a character(ie. 00025.0000) without

zero

suppression, however, %char always zero suppresses. Is there a way to

move

the # to the char without any editing?

Thanks,
Andy
