MODS w/ qualified & STRDBG

I'm at V5R2 for a short time and am trying this for the first time.

I have a MODS defined based on a sfl format:

D sav_s1        e ds                  extname(c200df:C200S1:*all) inz
D                                     occurs(sflPageSize)
D                                     qualified

I set the occurance like this:

 %occur(sav_s1) = sflrrn;

The first time, when sflrrn = 1, is fine.  The second time, when sflrrn = 2,
STRDBG shows sav_s1 is filled with garbage.  If I replace the qualified keyword
with prefix, then STRDBG shows what I expect.  

In STRDBG, if I check a particular field:
EVAL SAV_S1.S_TERM(2)

then STRDBG shows what I expect.

Can anyone tell me what's going on here?  Is it just STRDBG that is wrong?
