I don't think I've ever added the CLASSPATH envvar from inside my RPG program. I can understand the reverse being true, that adding the CLASSPATH envvar from inside an RPG program *doesn't* have any effect - that could happen if the JVM had already been started by another RPG program - the CLASSPATH environment variable is only fetched by RPG runtime when it has to start the JVM.
