Here's what I'd do:
1) Write your output to a spooled file, just like it was intended
to go to a line printer.
2) Use the Host Print Transrform API to convert the spooled file
to an ASCII text file so that you can e-mail it.
This may seem like a complicated way to do it, but once you've written a
prgoram that can convert a spooled file to a text file, you'll be able to
use it for other things as well.
The QWPDEFAULT *WSCST object works pretty well with Host Print Transform
to translate a document into a text file.
I used this technique with some software that I wrote to integrate my
iSeries software with HylaFAX running on a FreeBSD box so that I can send
faxes, etc, with HylaFAX...
