That's the big question.  For those who are NOT taking a program described 
file and moving it section-by-section into fields do they really want 
'1234J' to be considered numeric?  And who has done this kind of 
programming (trying to convert '1234J' into numeric) outside of the 
classroom, or taking a key-to-diskette file and verifying it?
