Bear with me, let me vent, then I'll give you a few suggestions
1)  Don't use reply to on a new email thread.  Looks like fecal matter in 
the archives.  Even if you do change the subject line.  Also, you are less 
likely to forget to change the subject line.
2)  If you violate rule number 1, at least change the subject line.

Suggestion 1)  Change the display of the date from numeric to 
alphanumeric.
Select;
When DateNbr=0;
  DisplayDate=*blanks;
Other;
  DisplayDate=%editc(DateNbr:'Y');
EndSl;

Suggestion 2)  Put a nondisplay indicator on the field;
Select;
When  DabeNbr=0;
  // turn on nondisplay indicator
Other;
  // turn off nondisplay indicator
EndSl;
