Passing array in procedures and using *VARYING

In the manual it says I can define a prototype with an array with the
options(*Varsize)

If I have an array defined as 6A DIM(25) Options(*VARSIZE), will the
variable size allow me to control how many array elements are sent? Say, I
only populate the array with 10 elements by using the *VARSIZE can I only
send 10? Or is the *VARSIZE when defined on an array the maximum length of
an element of the array? Or is it neither?

(I'm looking for a better way to send arrays where the receiving application
has to determine how many elements to process)
