When I have a screen where update and delete are both allowed, I have a
confirmation requirement on the deletion similar to what you have explained.
If, however, any other key is pressed after the delete key, I clear the
indication of the delete key having been pressed once.  That means the
confirmation message will be displayed again if the delete key is pressed.
