Will the new %trim support multiple characters?  Suppose your variable was
like the following:
'A' + x'40004000400040004000'  or 'A' + blank + loval + blank + loval...
Wouldn't the nesting there be rather intense?  Granted, you'd have to be
in a chemically altered state to get that, but I wouldn't have to remember
is it:
mychar = %trim(%trim(myvar):x'00);
or
mychar = %trim(%trim(myvar:x'00));

you could use translation to simplify it...

mychar = %trim(%xlate(x'00':x'40':myvar));
