Fred, Take a closer look at the link you posted.... It rather clearly shows that it is indeed a page about EBCDIC. It seems that even educators cannot spell this acronym properly.... <g> Eric DeLong Sally Beauty Company MIS-Project Manager (BSG) 940-898-7863 or ext. 1863 -----Original Message----- From: funderwood@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:funderwood@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Wednesday, May 26, 2004 11:35 AM To: RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries Subject: Re: Difference between EBCDIC and EDCDIC charter set? Here's an EDCDIC table: http://www.stedwards.edu/science/cassandra/courses/cosc3331/lecture-resource s/ebcdic.html Now, locate and EBCDIC table and compare them. Seach at http://www.google.com using EBCDIC as the search word and I suspect you'll have a lot to look at. hth Fred Underwood North American Stainless (502) 347-6187 mailto:funderwood@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx "Lokesh Gupta" <Lokesh.Gupta@xxxxxxxxxx> Sent by: rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx 05/26/2004 12:15 PM Please respond to RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries <rpg400-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> To "RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries" <rpg400-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> cc Subject Difference between EBCDIC and EDCDIC charter set? Hi Everyone, I could not find any conclusive information on the Internet hence the mail to this forum. I need to convert an EDCDIC file (received from mainframe) to ASCII. In most of the documents EDCDIC and EBCDIC is used interchangeably. My initial research suggests that one is a subset of other. I am trying to confirm if there is any difference in the character set or anything I should be aware of before starting the conversion. Any pointers will be helpful. regards, Lokesh Gupta, Infosys Technologies Ltd., Mobile: 239-839-7673 www.infosys.com _______________________________________________ This is the RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries (RPG400-L) mailing list To post a message email: RPG400-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/rpg400-l or email: RPG400-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/rpg400-l. _______________________________________________ This is the RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries (RPG400-L) mailing list To post a message email: RPG400-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/rpg400-l or email: RPG400-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/rpg400-l.
