Eric,

1) CHKPWD CL command.
2) QSYSGETPH API could be used to get a profile handle to the current
user ID and then release it. However, if you do, don't use *CURRENT as
the password isn't checked in that case. Specify the user's real profile
name. The docs seem to prefer the use of CHKPWD to simply check a
password, but I don't like having to shell to CL to do such a simple
task.

Subject: Accessing user profiles

To the list,
I need a way to, after the user enters their AS400 password within a
custom program, to verify that the password entered is valid. I aware
of the API to retrieve the encrypted password - is there a way to verify
the password.

I am implementing a custom application where the Controller wants to
make sure that if a user leaves their session signed on, that another
user cannot sit down at the screen and start taking options. I do not
want to start ending the sessions based on last time a key was pressed
or anything like that but just want to issue a prompt screen for the
user's password.

Thanks...
