The Retrieve Short Name (QDBRTVSN) API will return the 10 character name
associated with a long SQL table name. The API can be found in the
Information Center under the Database category of system APIs.

SQL allows creating tables with names up to 128 long.
Anybody knows way to copy a long named file (longer than 10) with CPYF
command?
I understand ISeries comes up with a 10 digit name (First five characters +
00001), but I wasn't able to figure out, how to reference that name to the
actual long SQL table name.
thanks in advance for any help.

Ali
