I usually code such a loop as Read Format; Dow Not %EOF(File); Stuff1(); Stuff2(); Read Format; EndDo; If my boss tells me to only process records where location=California, I would first choose to create an LF, because these types of things are usually recurring themes, and they will most likely ask for similar exclusions tomorrow on seven other programs. But without an LF: Read Format; Dow Not %EOF(File); If loc = 'California'; Stuff1(); Stuff2(); EndIf; Read Format; EndDo; -- "Enter any 11-digit prime number to continue..."
