Heh..  incidentally, this is the way that DSPLY has always worked... the 
variable/literal in factor1 is just displayed on the screen.  Factor2 is 
pretty much always blank (Yeah, I know, it has a purpose -- but I never 
use it, so I don't remember what the purpose is) The result field is a 
variable that you can request input into, and will cause the program to 
stop and wait for you to type something.

The only difference in /FREE is that you specify factor1 after the 
op-code, and have to use '' as a placeholder for the fields that you 
aren't specifying.

I agree that the following code is really ugly and awkward:
   DSPLY '' '' myfield;

Since I only use DSPLY for proof-of-concept programs anyway, I usually use 
the factor1 only (DSPLY myField;) and then look at the joblog to see what 
it said...
