I'm sorry, but this is simply incorrect. A successful chain does set the
current record pointer; an unsuccessful one does not. This is true of both
RPG/III and RPG/IV. My memory may be fallible when trying to go this far
back and I haven't checked, but ISTR that in RPG/II a chain did not
position the file for a subsequent sequential read.
