Thank you. I would think they should mention that in the online help.
In my copy of the online help (pressing F1 on the CRTBNDRPG command) it says the following:

Note: The TRUNCNBR option does not apply to calculations performed
within expressions. (Expressions are found in the Extended-Factor 2
field.) If overflow occurs for these calculations, an error will
always occur.
Isn't that more or less the same as what Birgitta said?
