Remember the dictum of youth: grandparents are cool, parents are losers
<g>.  Classic rock is now grandparent music, so it's cool again.

And this dismissal of the preceding generation is not new.  Mark Twain:

"When I was fifteen years of age my father was so stupid I could hardly
stand to have him around, but by the time I turned twenty-one, I was
amazed to find out how much he had learned."

Adjust for longer lifespans and you've got the same concept today.
