Personally, I can't see a problem with calling the program from within the
qshell environment - apart from the fact that it will be "other people" who
will be doing the calling. :-)
 
However, I can simply put the call details into the docs, and the reader can
call the program that way. Also, It might be a nice introduction to unix for
them - it's about time they find out that there's life outside /qsys.lib. My
biggest concern is that the reader will assume some "magic" has been
performed when the program is called this way. I'd rather have them call it
from a qcmd command line, rather than a qsh command line - as they would any
other RPG program they had written. This would keep the process as familiar
as possible. I just don't want to scare anybody off. Getting them to use SQL
and XML is big enough.
 
Good call though. I'll put that in to add some extra flavour for the more
adventurous reader.
