You're missing either a closing quote or the continuation symbol that is required when you break a literal across multiple lines. -Bob Cozzi www.RPGxTools.com RPG xTools - Enjoy programming again. -----Original Message----- From: rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of James H H Lampert Sent: Thursday, November 03, 2005 5:35 PM To: rpg400-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Weird compiler behavior --has anybody else seen this? I have just encountered some weird behavior from the ILE RPG compiler. It seems that I have single quotes embedded in a symbolic constant, coded in the usual way by doubling them. E.g.: DSNDMSG C 'SNDMSG ''Household address - D for member was missing from - . . . This is how the manual says to code embedded single quotes, and it's always worked in the past. But this afternoon, the compiler is spitting out code with the doubled single-quotes preserved. Has anybody ever seen this happen before? I'm about to move a test source member onto another box, and see what happens when I compile it there. -- JHHL
