I'd recommend using the regular expression support from the ILE C runtime, 
it'll outperform Java plus it won't require that Java be loaded on your 
iSeries (the C runtime is always installed, but Java isn't.)
There are samples of this in the archives for this mailing list, and some 
more in-depth examples in the archives of my newsletter.
