Need inputs related to SQL statements involving date

Hello all,

Could someone of you provide me a sample SQL statement involving 
appropriate date-time functions 
that would subtract some "x" number of days from the current date and 
yield a new date?

The above requirement has to be acheived using SQL statement only in the 
case we have.
