I believe that you can still use this.
DateMDY = %Int(%Char(%Date(): *MDY0));
I believe that I was using it back then. I could be wrong.
The other option is to use the old MOVE op codes.
D IsoDate s datfmt(*ISO)
*USA MOVE DateUSA ISODATE
*MDY0 Move IsoDate DateMDY.
