I heard the same thing (here, I think) awhile back.  Confirmed it 
through both some IBM web page and at COMMON last month.


When I came to work here, the company was 99% RPG II (a few RPG III 
pgms) and running in the 36 environment.  Supposedly my primary task, 
when hired, was to convert the system to "native" (they didn't specify 
but to me that meant, among other things, RPG IV).  However, business 
pressures have pushed that project into the background.  We're still 
running in the 36 environment; I still maintain RPG II code and OCL.  
However, for what it's worth, all of the new stuff is RPG IV and CL.


But without a compelling business reason there simply is no need to 
convert the old code.  It works and does the job.  Whenever it doesn't, 
then I convert or re-write the function, or put a hook (CALL) in the RPG 
II pgm or procedure to an RPG IV or CL pgm.  I'm hoping that the PRPQ, 
if IBM prices it high enough, will put a burr in someone's saddle so 
that I can actually do the conversion.  The price point, for us, has to 
be at least close to the cost of a conversion tool so that it is a wash 
in our financial people's minds.
